Made to Measure Hardwood Gates
We specialise in hand making made to measure hardwood gates. We are able to design and build your gates from scratch and use only the best FSC certified hardwoods. Our favourite hardwoods for external joinery are Iroko and Sapele due to their excellent stability, durability and appearance. We use traditional methods along with modern technology to get the best lifespan from our gates and only use mortice and tenon joinery along with epoxy resin adhesives. We hand pick our materials and carefully organise the grain direction, type and colour profile. Once the gates are made, we hand finish them in our dedicated workshop and can offer a range of different stains, varnishes, oils and paints to get the desired look. Our favourite stain for hardwoods is made by Sikkens and we find this to offer the best overall finish and longevity between maintenance coats. It also has remarkable UV protection which we pay close attention to in all of our bespoke joinery.
Here we display a recent set of Sapele hardwood gates that we custom made for a client in Winchmore Hill, N21, and were built along with a matching hardwood front door. They feature a contemporary design with heavily chamfered posts and quality strap hinges, mortice locks and bolts. The finish applied was Sikkens HLS base stain with two top coats of Sikkens Filter 7 with UV protection. We can build a limitless array of styles and from a wide variety of materials and finishes.
